He’s covered the tech industry for over 18 years and knows a thing or two about synths\. Serato DJ for iOS is[finally bringing](https://the-drop.serato.com/announcements/introducing-serato-dj-for-ios/)the company’s pro\-level DJ suite[to the iPhone and iPad](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/serato-dj/id6754231707)\. Until now, the company had only dipped its toes into mobile software, with apps like[Pyro](https://www.theverge.com/2016/2/11/10958798/serato-pyro-iphone-automatic-dj-app-announced)that basically just added some autofades between songs in a playlist\. This is the first time most of the features of its flagship DJ app are available on a mobile device, even though competitors like Rekordbox and[Algoriddim](https://www.theverge.com/2020/11/12/21562195/djay-mac-update-m1-arm-neural-mix-universal)have had proper mobile DJ apps for some time\. If you’re a DJ used to Serato on a laptop, the workflow should feel instantly familiar\. You can even transfer your library directly from Serato DJ 5\.0 on your laptop to your iOS device either over USB\-C or wirelessly\. The mobile version supports stem separation and the company’s full suite of effects\. It also includes EQ tools, BPM matching, key sync, cue points, recording, and more for live performance and capturing those performances for posterity\. You can DJ directly from your touchscreen in various layouts, but Serato DJ for iOS also[supports over 120 hardware controllers](https://serato.com/dj/hardware?license=dj-ios-compatible)\. With some[older controllers](https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/14/18618559/pioneer-dj-ddj-200-controller-streaming-music-smartphone-price), you might need an adapter, but it seems like compatibility with your DJ hardware shouldn’t be a major issue\. It even supports Digital Vinyl Systems \(DVS\) for scratching and DJs who prefer the feel of real records\. [Serato DJ for iOS](https://serato.com/dj/for-ios/pricing)is available as a feature\-limited download from the App Store\. You can buy a license for $149 or get it bundled along with Serato DJ Pro,[Serato Studio](https://www.theverge.com/tech/839732/serato-slab-midi-controller-studio), and all of its expansions for $14\.99 a month\. **Follow topics and authors**from this story to see more like this in your personalized homepage feed and to receive email updates\. - Terrence O'Brien
