I had heard of omarchy before, but I hadn’t tried it.

I installed omarchy 4.0 on an idle HP laptop of mine.

This machine was bought about two or three years back. At the time, the GPU driver just wouldn’t install correctly. I tried two or three times, eventually gave up, and left it sitting there untouched.

When I saw the 4.0 release last weekend, I spent two minutes installing it—and that HP laptop was instantly turned from scrap into gold…

Tell me, how could I not love omarchy 4.0?

But some people immediately bring up versions from half a year ago, a year ago, and dismiss it as some kind of toy.

I’m talking about 4.0—released just this weekend.

But prejudice in people’s minds is like a mountain.

It reminded me of something孙割 (Sun Ge) said last week in response to the Wang Sicong incident: Life is like releasing a new version.

Even after multiple rounds of new releases, people still prefer to judge you based on your past journey.

I’ve been talking about 4.0 all along, yet they keep referring to versions from half a year or a year ago. I don’t understand—as engineers, why can’t they grasp what a version number signifies?

Duskzhen | 夕阳针 (@imwritingbugs): But last September, I already felt it was quite productive. I even put together a machine specifically for this system 🤠. Honestly, even before 4.0, using it as a development machine was perfectly functional—you just needed to pick hardware with good compatibility.
