Summary

An argument that open-source AI models should not be shut down due to potential misuse, drawing an analogy to the internet where antivirus solutions were developed instead of shutting it down.

We didn't shut down the internet because it was able to spread viruses. We continued and we developed antiviruses, and right now we don't have as many of them spreading around. It's not like we're having an attack over the internet every other day. Same thing would happen with Opensource AI models. If they allow for something bad to happen, you would also be able to use them to protect ourselves from these attacks. We'd be able to come up with better infrastructure, better antiviruses, better methods. Are we supposed to just stop living because something could go wrong? Stopping that access level to Opensource AI, to these models that we can control and own, is to me a crazy idea because it takes away the potential of a future that is thriving for all of us. https://x.com/MTSlive/status/2080045051292660007/video/1…
