It's reached the point where you have no choice but to update your OS to continue using AI.

I'm on W10. I do not want to use W11. At all. I have no interest whatsoever. I got the extra whatever years of security updates and I'm going to ride that for as long as possible. I've tried W11 on other computers and I hate it. It's slower, it's bloated with crap nobody wants, it has AI baked into it, Copilot, more spyware shit than any previous Windows iteration ever before, less support for older games and programs than even W10 and I just plain fucking hate it. But both OpenAI and Anthropic have stopped supporting Windows 10 since it is considered end of life. There are bugs on both that prevent you using the models to their fullest capability, and even with many github posts and complaints to the companies, they just don't care. They are putting out fixes for other things, just not that. And before you say "why would the company keep updating for an obsolete OS?" I know. I get that. It just sucks, because now I have no choice but to use something awful with "features" i cannot get rid of and that I cannot trust. Here are the issues I'm having: ChatGPT: ChatGPT cannot use the Computer Use skill, because it cannot take screenshots and therefor cannot see. This is exclusive to W10, and it came up after an update to W10. It has nothing to do with settings whatsoever. It just suddenly started happening. Now you can grant it full on root access, but what this does is it prevents you from locking ChatGPT to only a few spaces. It grants it full unrestricted access to your entire PC, meaning it will look through absolutely everything and can do quite literally whatever it wants across every folder, drive, and file in your entire computer. You can no longer limit it, so it's not a solution. Claude: A W10 September update broke Claude's ability to use the shell, so it cannot run many things on your own PC. It tries to use it's cloud instead, but that can only get it so far, and there is a file size limit. This ends up creating problems where, instead of it being able to figure stuff out in a game, it needs to use Computer Use instead. Computer Use actually works fine with Claude... but it is insanely slow and not at all efficient. I'm talking like Before with shell: 3 minutes Now with Computer Use: Anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour+. ___________________________________________________ And more of these pop up as the days go by, as they make changes to the models and the apps and the sites and they pay no attention to how it works with W10. Again I understand. It just sucks. You update to the bloated trash AI spyware machine of W11 where you can't trust that any changes you make to the registry to disable something won't just re-enable itself silently with a small update, or that they won't remove remove the ability to even disable such things, or you just lose out every month on more things. Do not tell me to use Linux. I'm too stupid for it and I just don't like it.
