My boss saw an AI demo and thought we could make a full video in 5 minutes

My boss recently asked me to make a short AI video. He had seen some impressive AI-generated clips online and thought the process was basically: come up with an idea, type a prompt, wait a few minutes, and the video is done. I wish it worked that way. The first problem was that he wanted something with an actual story, not just a random 5-second AI clip. Once you need characters, scenes, pacing, and a clear idea, things get complicated very quickly. A video that looks simple on the outside can take a lot of attempts before getting something usable. I spent time adjusting scenes, fixing details that changed between clips, and figuring out which generations were actually worth keeping. I used PixVerse to turn some prepared ideas and images into short video clips, but the tool was only one part of the process. I still had to decide what to create, what to regenerate, and how to put everything together. The funny thing is that people often see the final AI videos and assume the difficult part is gone. They don't see the failed generations, the weird results, or the hours spent choosing the few clips that actually work. I think AI video is amazing, but there is a big difference between “AI can generate a video” and “AI can make the exact video you imagined.” The button is getting easier to press, but making something good still requires someone behind it.
