# Tesla poised to scale production of heavy-duty Semi trucks with opening of Nevada factory

- Elon Musk's automaker opened its first heavy\-duty truck factory in Sparks, Nevada, on Thursday\.
- The company aims to ramp production of the Semi to high volumes by next year and has promised the trucks will feature a version of Tesla's self\-driving systems in the near future\.
- Autonomous trucking competitors like Aurora Innovation and Kodiak Robotics are already conducting driverless tests and hauling cargo on public roads in the U\.S\.
