I once edited a video with CapCut, only to find out during export that it required a paid membership. I was fuming and immediately looked for an alternative.
Then I found OpenCut. It’s free, open-source, no watermarks, no subscriptions, no ads, and all video processing happens locally—so privacy is also well taken care of. It works on web, desktop, and mobile, so a single project covers all platforms.
The multi-track timeline editing, real-time preview, masks, keyframes, variable speed, and stickers are more than enough for daily video editing needs.
I heard there will also be a plugin system, MCP (AI agent integration), and headless rendering in the future—automated editing will become possible then.
