The "local frontier" is now smarter than Sonnet 4.5

Summary

The post highlights that AI models runnable on consumer hardware are narrowing the gap with frontier models, suggesting that cutting-edge AI will become freely accessible on personal devices within months.

IMO the most interesting graph in AI right now. Orange = frontier. Blue = what you can run on a 32GB RAM laptop. That means a few things: The models that can run on your laptop are only ~9 months behind the frontier models. The cost of automating most tasks is going to zero faster than I could have imagined. Anything that you can do today that is cutting edge will be free in 9 months. In the not-too-distant future, a laptop will ship with *FREE* intelligence pre-loaded just like a word processor. I’m running these models on AI Desktop 98, what are you guys using?
