A photo of handwritten letters can be directly turned into a custom font that can be installed on your computer and used on the web.
This project is called draw-your-font.
Write the letters on paper with a dark pen, take a photo, drag it into the browser, and it generates a TTF font. When used via the Claude Code Skill, it can automatically recognize the letters, check the preview, round or bolden the glyphs, and export WOFF, WOFF2, and web CSS.
AI handles recognition, organization, and checking — everything runs locally on your machine, photos are not uploaded, and the generated font is entirely yours, including for commercial use.
Beyond creating a truly personal font for posters and website headers, it’s also perfect for preserving family handwriting as a digital font that can still be used in the future.
100% open source, completely free.
