Compared to ordinary terminals, cmux offers four main advantages:

Convenient multi-window and split-screen management. Vertical tabs are used for task grouping, and windows within a group can be rearranged by dragging. Both tabs and windows support renaming, so you can clearly see what task is running on each page.

Clear task progress notifications. You don’t have to keep staring at the terminal. When a task is completed, cmux will promptly notify you which agent, which task, and which workspace needs attention (great for running Claude and Codex simultaneously).

Built-in browser for easy verification and viewing. Like the Codex App, cmux allows you to open a browser directly in the terminal to preview pages, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between the terminal and browser.

Supports quick workspace restoration. Each time you finish running Claude or Codex, you can simply close the terminal. When you reopen it next time, it will restore to the state before closing.
