Comcast is launching a same\-day Xfinity Wi\-Fi offering that spares you from waiting for your new router\. Starting today, new Xfinity customers in almost 20 markets — including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and more — can receive the Xfinity Gateway equipment they need to get online the same day they order it\.
Eligible customers can select same\-day Gateway router delivery during checkout after signing up for Xfinity internet services and have the equipment sent to their door “within hours,” according to Comcast\. Customers can then set up the devices themselves to activate the service through the Xfinity app and get online almost instantly, instead of having to wait several days with no internet service\.
“In a world where almost everything is instant, home internet shouldn’t be an exception,” said Eric Jagher, connectivity head at Comcast’s Xfinity\. “With Xfinity’s same\-day Wi\-Fi, we’ve giving customers access to the nation’s fastest, most reliable connectivity the moment they need it\.”
Comcast says that its Xfinity service is now the “first wired major internet provider” to offer same\-day Wi\-Fi connectivity and that it plans to expand the rapid delivery service to all regions where Xfinity is available by “early next year\.” Prospective Xfinity customers who aren’t currently eligible to receive their Gateway at their doorstep on the same day they sign up can also do a same\-day collection from 700 Xfinity stores across the US\.
