Muse can buy. That does not mean your Shopify store can sell to it.

Summary

Meta's Muse AI agent can now potentially buy from Shopify stores, but the article highlights gaps in the implementation and questions its production-readiness for merchants.

Meta's Muse launch is already being compressed into a simple story: AI agents can now buy from Shopify stores. That skips four separate states: An agent is announced. It can access product data. It can complete a payment flow. The merchant records an attributed order. Here is what the primary sources actually establish as of September 9: * Meta says Muse is rolling out in the US, can pay with Link, and will support Shop Pay soon. * Stripe says US users can connect Link. At merchants that accept Link, Muse can use the saved payment method. Elsewhere, Link can issue a single-use virtual card scoped to the approved purchase. * Shopify documents direct checkout on Meta surfaces for eligible stores and US-based shoppers, with product discovery powered by Shopify Catalog. The important gap: "direct checkout on Meta surfaces" does not establish that Shop Pay is already live inside Muse for every eligible store. If you are building or integrating a shopping agent, I would not call the flow production-ready until I could log: * the exact surface and shopper market; * the SKU and variant selected; * price, currency and stock at decision time; * the payment method and approval event; * the merchant order ID; * attribution, cancellation and refund state. Has anyone here completed a real Muse purchase and inspected the merchant-side order? Which link in that chain was hardest to verify?
