Codex's Computer Use + Chrome extension, I'm absolutely loving it!!! Now I really feel: as long as you give AI enough permissions, there seems to be nothing it can't do on a computer. Websites already logged in Chrome, apps on the computer, various backends without APIs – it can see, click, and fill, and switching between several tools is no problem. Of course, especially sensitive data still needs caution. The upper limit of AI's capability indeed depends on how many permissions you give it. Computer Use is one of the greatest inventions in the AI era!!!

I now truly believe: as long as you give AI enough permissions, there seems to be nothing on the computer it can’t do.

For example, in the past, development was often frustrating due to the endless configurations—especially with Alibaba Cloud’s ecosystem. One menu hides behind another, and changing even a single parameter required digging through documentation, searching for tutorials, and flipping back and forth across multiple backends.

Now I just tell Codex the result I want.

It goes ahead and researches on its own, finds the configuration entry, opens the backend, modifies the parameters, checks emails for verification codes, and even continues running tests afterward.

What’s shown in the screenshot is just updating SMTP settings. Later, for real OTP verification and business smoke tests, it completed everything autonomously.

And that was just one small task.

Already logged-in websites in Chrome, desktop apps, backends without APIs—it can view, click, and fill in forms across all of them, and even switches seamlessly between different tools.

Of course, particularly sensitive data still requires caution. The upper limit of an AI’s capability truly depends on how much access you grant it.

Computer Use is one of the greatest inventions of the AI era!!!
