Hey folks, someone built an open-source messaging app covering six platforms with 7.5K stars on GitHub. Companies often struggle to set up their own chat tools: buying commercial solutions charges per user, which becomes a fixed expense as the team grows; while open-source options often only have web versions, with desktop and mobile either missing or rough. HuLa fills the platform gap, supporting Windows 10 and 11, macOS, Ubuntu 22.04 and above, iOS 9 and above, Android 12 and above. The server-side has a separate repository for self-deployment. Features like private and group chats, message recall, read receipts, stickers, link previews, and history management are marked as completed. Voice calls, video calls, file uploads, and auto-updates are also done, with a built-in AI chat assistant. The tech stack is Tauri with Vite 7, Vue 3, and TypeScript, using Rust under the hood, and styling with UnoCSS and Sass. The interface supports nine languages: Chinese, English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian. Note that it currently does not support the web version, and internationalization completeness is marked as 98%.
