Sharing My Bookkeeping Setup | Hermes + Beancount + Feishu

I have to track my finances now, because my income sources are growing — some go through business accounts, some involve rebates, and so on… Without bookkeeping, I’d have no clue about my financial situation by the end of the month.

My current setup is using Hermes + Beancount within Feishu.

The cost is very low — the model is powered by DeepSeek V4 flash, and the monthly cost is less than 10 yuan.

The reason I chose Feishu is convenience. A lot of my business collaboration documents are already on Feishu. I’ve also tried Discord, Slack, and other options, but in the end I settled on Feishu.

And once you configure the card layouts in Feishu, the experience is actually really good.

For data cleanliness, I use Beancount. While I could maintain the data with scripts, I’d always worry about the model causing data corruption or memory confusion. Beancount’s validation rules are excellent — I don’t need to design a data model from scratch at all.

2️⃣ The data is very clear, and you don’t need to worry about long-term memory getting jumbled, because Beancount validates everything on every entry.

For example, I’ve set up a monthly push on the 1st with the billing summary and details for each account, so I can easily reconcile.

4️⃣ It can integrate with Feishu Docs / Bitable — this is super convenient, because my business collaborations are all stored in documents. When anything needs to change, I just tell Hermes directly.

5️⃣ It fully understands your financial situation and can offer a lot of valuable advice

For investing, for example, it knows my stock list and my capital scale. I can sync my overall position status with it, and it can help me assess risk.

If I need to make a purchase, it can also give recommendations — that’s great.

I used to be someone who never kept books, because I found it too much of a hassle. But this is the setup that’s most comfortable for me and the one I can actually stick with.
