Recently I’ve been tinkering with Agent Harnesses like Pi Agent, OMP, Zcode, Codex, and Opencode, and I finally understand what I truly need. First: I need a mature, stable GUI page. Once you’re used to a GUI, it’s really hard to go back to a TUI — chatting inside a black box is too painful. You have to memorize a ton of keyboard shortcuts and commands before you can actually use it well. But with a GUI, you just intuitively click icons and buttons. So I must have a mature, stable, and beautiful GUI page. That rules out products like Pi Agent and OMP — their community GUIs are really poorly done, and hand-rolling my own would take a huge amount of effort. Besides, they’re so highly customizable that a hand-rolled GUI wouldn’t have much universality. Second: I need a software product that is not vendor-locked or vendor-biased. Codex does expose a third-party model configuration interface, but configuring it is really troublesome, and third-party models always feel like second-class citizens, which annoys me. Zcode can’t log in to various coding plans via OAuth — like Kimi For Code or Grok Build — so those can’t be used inside Zcode (unless you go down the hacky path). So I ruled out vendor-biased software like ZCode and Codex. Third: I need to be able to do secondary development and customization based on my own needs, so I can give my customers a more convenient out-of-the-box experience. So it must be open source and license-friendly — convenient for me and for my customers, simple and easy to use, without requiring a bunch of black magic hacks. In the end, the only real choice left for me is Opencode. But Opencode is just an agent kernel — to give it a truly mature, stable, and nice-looking GUI product, I finally found the real answer: OpenChamber.
