Discovered another open-source tool that truly lets Claude Code understand legacy projects—Understand Anything. GitHub stars have surged to over 80,000, and it can integrate with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, and more. Taking over a legacy repository that no one can explain clearly is the most frustrating—changing one line without knowing what might break, having to search function names globally, clicking through layers to see calls, and still feeling hesitant to commit. It first uses Tree-sitter to extract the relationships between files, functions, classes, imports, calls, and inheritance, then lets large language models add semantics, and finally provides you with a graph that you can click open, search, and directly ask questions to. Ask 'Which layer does this module belong to?' or 'What will changing it affect?', and it responds directly on the graph; it can also generate guided tours so that newcomers can get an overview by following along once. After modifying code, it only re-analyzes the changed files, without needing to re-run the entire repository, and Chinese output is also supported. Previously, humans read code for AI, but now it's the other way around. GitHub:

An open-source project by Egonex, originally created by Lum1104.

🧭 Guided Tours

Automatically generated walkthroughs of the architecture, ordered by dependencies. Learn the codebase in a logical sequence.

🔍 Fuzzy & Semantic Search

Find anything by name or meaning. Search “which parts handle authentication?” and receive relevant results across the entire graph.

📊 Diff Impact Analysis

Visualize which parts of the system your changes will affect before committing. Understand ripple effects throughout the codebase.

🎭 Persona-Adaptive UI

The dashboard adjusts its level of detail based on your role—be it junior developer, product manager, or power user.

🏗️ Layer Visualization

Automatic grouping by architectural layers—API, Service, Data, UI, Utility—with a color-coded legend.

📚 Language Concepts

Twelve programming patterns (generics, closures, decorators, etc.) explained contextually wherever they appear.
