A team has compiled all the content that elementary school children should learn into an open-source knowledge graph.

The scale includes 1,590 concepts and 3,221 connections, covering 8 subjects such as mathematics, science, computer science, and life skills, with each item aligned to the U.S. NGSS, Common Core, and UK DfE curriculum standards. 🧵 https://t.co/R0AZlEtWpY

Each concept is a structured JSON, annotated with the age range and evidence required to demonstrate mastery.

Each prerequisite relationship is labeled as either hard or soft dependency, with a reason given — essentially a directed acyclic graph that can compute learning paths.

The license is divided into two parts:

  • Database structure: ODbL 1.0, derivative databases must remain open source;
  • Content: CC BY-SA 4.0, attribution + share-alike. You can use it for commercial products without open-sourcing your own product, but you must contribute improvements to the graph itself back.

The team says that after the release of Marble Curriculum, it received a lot of feedback, and they decided to open-source it. The main builder is Guillaume Boni.

Their assessment is that education plus AI is one of the hardest and most important problems of the next decade.

If you are building in the education field, this open-source graph is worth a look. How would you use this computable curriculum?

@nash_su: Knowledge graph visualization with a time dimension! This display form is amazing. Traditional knowledge graph visualization cannot show timeline information. This form introduces a time dimension, which is very valuable. This is everything for elementary school students: 1,590 concepts. 3,221 connections, spanning 8 subjects, from math and science to computing and…

@hassanyehiaa: I've received a lot of direct messages these past two days, and many tutors and teachers have offered suggestions — I'm truly grateful. I've been continuously improving the knowledge graph content, and based on everyone's feedback, I've increased the difficulty levels of the question banks as well as expanded the number of questions. Details are as follows: Difficulty tiers: Questions for each knowledge point are divided into three tiers — Basic, Advanced, and Extension. Diagnostic order: Present the Advanced question first; if answered correctly, use an Extension question to confirm mastery. If answered incorrectly, follow up with a Basic question; if still incorrect, trace back to related knowledge points from earlier grades, with the prerequisite knowledge highlighted on the interface.

The author updated the open-source K-12 knowledge graph project cn-math-taxonomy, adding three difficulty tiers (Basic/Advanced/Extension) of questions for each knowledge point, and improving the adaptive diagnostic order and prerequisite backtracking logic. The project covers math, Chinese, science, English, and physics, and provides an online diagnostic tool, though the author notes it is an AI-generated draft that still awaits teacher review.
