When AI writes most of the code, how are we supposed to verify it?

Eventually we're going to have way more AI written code than humans can realistically review. That seems manageable when it's normal product code. But what happens when AI is also writing the evals, monitoring tools and other systems were using to check AI itself? Which makes good human evals and expert feedback seem like a serious bottleneck in the future. That's why I think it's weird that American data companies supply high end training data to Chinese labs too. Seems like something with serious strategic value.
