From Scratch: Building an Automated Claude Code Workflow with Hooks
You ask Claude Code to write features, complete tests, format files, and commit the changes along the way.
It writes the feature, completes most of the tests, formats two files, but misses one. Then, quite naturally, it tells you: “All done.”
You check: uncommitted changes, and not fully formatted.

@vincemask: Many people don’t know when to use Hooks. My rule is simple: anything you find yourself repeatedly reminding Claude about should be taken out of the prompt and handed to a Hook. For example: 1. Formatting code after every edit 2. Running lint/tests before every commit 3. ...
This post explains when to use Hooks to codify repetitive rules in Claude AI programming assistance (such as auto-formatting, pre-commit checks, etc.), suggesting that stable, repetitive, and easily forgotten processes should be moved from the Prompt to be executed by default in the environment.

@yaohui12138: I've finished reading it. Here are some key takeaways I've compiled for everyone: In this session, he primarily broke down a core mechanism overlooked by 90% of users: the CLAUDE.md context injection system. This system is divided into three levels: Enterprise-level: Organization-wide mandatory rules that cannot be overridden by individual settings. Project-level: Team-shared code standards and workflows. Loc...
