Nvidia's 621.01 GPU driver enables Microsoft's Advanced Shader Delivery, which precompiles shaders in the cloud to speed up game launches and eliminate mid-game stuttering. The feature is also supported on AMD and Qualcomm GPUs, with launch support for Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Nvidia is rolling out a new GPU driver today \(621\.01\) that enables Microsoft’s new Advanced Shader Delivery technology to speed up game launches\. The technology also removes mid\-game “just\-in\-time” shader compilation, reducing stuttering and CPU spikes\.
Microsoft’s Advanced Shader Delivery works by offloading shader compilation for different hardware combinations to the cloud\. “Using DirectX 12, Windows 11, and the Microsoft Agility SDK, developers capture shaders into a State Object Database \(SODB\), allowing Microsoft’s cloud network to precompile shaders for hundreds of thousands of hardware and driver combinations,”[explains Nvidia’s Andrew Burnes](https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/news/phantom-blade-zero-nvidia-geforce-game-ready-driver/)\.
*Gears of War: E\-Day*and*Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4*now both support Advanced Shader Delivery, as long as you download the games via the Xbox PC app\. “This system is storefront\-agnostic, meaning you benefit even when playing games purchased on Steam, as long as the Xbox PC app is installed on your PC,” says Burnes\.
Advanced Shader Delivery will let you skip the annoying shader compilation screen in*Call of Duty*, and it should improve the overall performance of supported games\. “With a near\-100 percent cache hit rate, it eliminates mid\-game ‘just\-in\-time’ shader compilation, wiping out CPU spikes and frame stutters in titles like*Gears of War: E\-Day*, and*Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4*\.
