My girlfriend and I are now sharing one ChatGPT account, and it has weirdly become a strange bond in our long-distance relationship.
I used to use ChatGPT mainly for research, work, and daily life problems, and I’d also ask it some very personal, emotional stuff. But after we started sharing the account, I stopped asking those kinds of questions as much. It’s not that I have anything to hide — it’s just that there are some things I’d rather she not see.
She, on the other hand, is much more open about it.
She asks all kinds of very private questions. Some of her conversation titles are literally called “Mood Diary,” and there are also chat logs from when we argue. Every time we have a huge fight on WeChat, she’ll forward the entire conversation to ChatGPT and ask it to mediate.
And the crazy thing is, it actually works.
After reading GPT’s analysis, I often find that it makes a lot of sense — and I end up apologizing immediately.
As for why we argue on WeChat in the first place — we’ve been in a long-distance relationship for almost four years now.
Looking back, it feels like ChatGPT has become a kind of window through which we understand each other. She sees what I’m normally focused on — research, work, AI — and with her permission, I also look at her mood logs, catching the times when she’s not doing well so I can comfort her in time.
This might be one of the most subtle ways AI has entered our intimate relationship.
