At HumanLayer, we’re on a mission to solve the AI slop code problem.
In 2025 we open-sourced our Research, Plan, Implement framework, now deployed inside fortune 500s like Block and Uber - places where shipping slop is just not an option
And that was just the beginning.
Today, we’re opening access to HumanLayer - an Agentic IDE, collaboration platform, and building blocks for your software factory.
HumanLayer enables engineers solving hard problems in complex codebases to:
move 2-3x faster across the entire SDLC (not just coding)
maintain rigorous standards for system architecture and program design
Hundreds of engineers at companies of all sizes are already using HumanLayer to ship fast without sacrificing quality.
I’m excited to invite you to try humanlayer today at http://humanlayer.com, and I’m even more excited to see what you build.
@0xblacklight and I are deeply grateful to our team, our customers who give us so much incredible energy and feedback, our investors who have always been in our corner, and our friends and family who have supported us along this crazy journey
if you’re a staff or principal engineer trying to make AI coding work at scale for your team, we’d love to hear from you
as @swyx likes to say - let’s make this the year of no more slop
HumanLayer - Token Smarter, not Harder
Source: https://www.humanlayer.com/ HumanLayeris an AI IDE, collaboration platform, and building blocks for your software factory. HumanLayer enables engineers solving hard problems in complex codebases to ship 2-3x faster across the entire SDLC, while still maintaining rigorous standards for code quality and architecture.
Everyone from YC startups to the Fortune 500 uses HumanLayer to ship faster without sacrificing code quality.
Bring your own subscription— plug in your Claude, Codex, and other AI subscriptions or API keys. No separate per-token bill to reason about.
AI Coding IDE + Software Factory Building Blocks
Manage tasks, run multiple agent sessions, and collaborate with your team — all in one place.
You could stitch this together yourself — but every team is stuck in the same exploration phase, trying tools and seeing what sticks. HumanLayer is an opinionated system of agents for shipping fast with maintainable code. We’re confident it works because we build HumanLayer with HumanLayer.

FAQ
Do I bring my own AI subscription, or pay for tokens?
Bring your own. Plug in your existing Claude, Codex, and other AI subscriptions or API keys (BYOK) — there’s no separate HumanLayer per-token bill to reason about.
Which agents and models are supported?
Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Fireworks, with new models/subscription providers added regularly.
Why not just use Notion or Google Docs for design reviews?
You can, but those are part of a fragmented, manual, pre-AI world. In HumanLayer, comments and decisions feed directly back to the agents, so your design docs live in the IDE, directly integrated with the implementation.
I already have my own skills and workflows
Today, HumanLayer supports a variety of RPI and experimental workflows, and we’re actively working on ways for you to bring your own skills and workflows into HumanLayer.
Why not just stitch these workflows and tools together myself?
You can — but you’ll spend months in the exploration phase trying things and seeing what sticks. HumanLayer is an opinionated system of agents that you can stand up in 10 minutes. We build HumanLayer with HumanLayer, so we know it works, and we’ve spent hundreds of hours working in the trenches with customers making the prompts and workflows “squishy” - that is, flexible to a broad range of problems and inputs, so there’s no holding it wrong.
Is there a free plan?
Yes - the Starter plan is free for teams of three or less.
Is HumanLayer open source?
Not yet, but we’ll be open-sourcing some of the building blocks in the coming weeks and months. Our Research, Plan, Implement (RPI) framework is already open source.
