Shanay-Timpishka is a boiling river in the Peruvian Amazon that reaches 100°C despite being over 700 km from the nearest active volcano, defying standard geological explanations. Geothermal scientist Andrés Ruzo investigated the phenomenon in 2011, finding it to be one of Earth's strangest hydrothermal features.
