Pharo 14 released, a pure object-oriented programming language and environment focused on modernized dev tools, rebuilt refactoring/command infrastructure, and VM updates including RISC-V JIT support and GC improvements. This marks the first release under a new fall schedule.

在 ESUG 2026 大会上，Esteban Lorenzano 发布并演示了 Pulsar——一款面向 Pharo 的以编码为核心的新型 IDE，强调在生成式 AI 时代程序员仍需贴近代码进行系统理解与导航。

Alan Kay's 1993 HOPL-II paper recounts the early history of Smalltalk at Xerox PARC, tracing its roots in 1960s human-computer symbiosis research, the FLEX machine, SketchPad/Simula, and the Dynabook vision toward object-oriented design.

Squeak 6.1 'Vanessa' is the first release in four years, featuring a new tree browser, Objectland, kernel fixes, and over 1700 merged patches to the Smalltalk environment.
