Why are Gamers and espacialy Indiegamers extrem anti AI

Reddit r/artificial News

Summary

The article discusses the anti-AI sentiment among gamers and indie developers, weighing ethical concerns against the practical benefits of AI for small-scale projects with limited resources.

I get that AI-generated content can be really awful, but many games today would not exist without AI, vibe coding, or AI-assisted UI development. I also understand the concerns around AI art, especially regarding the use of artists' work as training data without explicit permission. At the same time, many small developers simply cannot afford to hire artists. In those cases, AI may be the only realistic way to create a prototype or even release a small project. If you do have the budget, I think hiring artists is definitely the better option, both to support creative professionals and to achieve a more unique result. What do you think? Is AI genuinely threatening people's livelihoods to the point where it should be excluded from creative projects, or should people be more tolerant of its use in small-scale projects that would never have had the resources to bring their ideas to life otherwise?
