1Password One Shots with Codex

TL;DR: The 1Password engineering team used OpenAI Codex to dramatically shorten the cycle from idea to production, and by cultivating AppSec skills and building an internal AI SRE agent, they accelerated feature releases and the customer feedback loop. ## Shortening the lifecycle from planning to launch For many of our engineers, the real eye-opener is how much shorter the lifecycle has become between planning and actually seeing a feature go live. OpenAI offers so many ways to interact with the model. ## Instinctive chat interface On the knowledge worker side, my team is also responsible for rolling this out to teams like finance and marketing. For them, the chat interface has become almost instinctive. Today, for example, you can go from idea to prototype to something that's fully running in production in one go. ## Cultivating AppSec skills For us, the real game changer has been cultivating AppSec (application security) skills. That is, embedding our security policies and security posture — especially as a security company — into those skills. ## Building an internal AI SRE agent On the engineering side, we've actually just kicked off a project to build our own internal AI SRE (site reliability engineering) agent, which will be used entirely through the 55 and API. ## Codex accelerates the feedback loop Specifically with Codex, it's helping us ship features faster. If we can truly speed up the cycle of getting feedback from customers and then quickly making changes in the UI, that will really unlock customer satisfaction and a lot of things from a business perspective.
