Is there any optimism to be had about the future here?

Curious if anyone lands on the optimistic side of the equation regarding artificial intelligence and our future with it? I have been spiralling pretty hard on this topic as of late, and tbh, I actually find it almost impossible to see how we aren't just completely doomed. Maybe if there was a responsible or even half-way normal individual in the white house, I might have a bit of hope that there was even a fighting chance of humanity coming out the other side here... but as it stands, I just can't see it. basically every single even marginally intelligent person or public intellectual that i've seen over the past few months are all saying in unison, "this is do or die... game time" and our leadership is, and most likely will never not be, completely unwilling to accept or engage with that prospect. I would say it's heartening that the dems might take office in 2029... but in AI years... thats just too late, as I understand.
