Our PM told me he can build it himself now

Summary

A developer at a SaaS company describes how his PM built a 3,000-line feature over the weekend using Claude and CodeRabbit, reflecting the growing friction between AI-assisted coding and traditional code review practices.

I'm a dev at a mid-size SaaS company. Last Friday our PM pulled me aside to show me a feature he built over the weekend with Claude, a whole reporting page, and he said to me, word for word: "I can build it myself now." He wants it merged Monday. The PR is about 3,000 lines. coderabbit left 40-something comments on it, he pasted them back into Claude, and now it's a different 3,000 lines. When I ask him why something works a certain way, he says he'll ask the agent. I've had some version of this conversation 5 or 6 times this year. I used to take the time to explain why review exists. Now I just smile, nod and block out Monday for reading.
