Damn, this Claude ad just poured cold water on every AI startup founder.
On the surface, the post is praising customers — but what Genspark’s CTO said actually stings. I’ve read it multiple times.
Genspark CTO Kay Zhu: “With every other model, we had to predefine every step. Anthropic’s model changed everything about how we build.”
That means: with other models, they had to hardcode every step. Claude fundamentally changed how they think about building products.
Now look at the video — it’s all shots of people, team discussions, the office. Not code. Not product screenshots.
The narrative has quietly shifted from “how powerful the model is” to “who is using it.”
I feel like Anthropic is doing something really smart here: They’re no longer selling models. They’re selling partnerships.
Positioning themselves as “enabling top-tier teams to go further” is a hundred times more valuable than being the “most powerful model.”
In other words, the competition used to be about benchmarks. Now it’s about execution.
Model commoditization is already an industry consensus, but the people who truly get it are quietly doing one thing: shifting their moat from “we have a stronger model” to “we have a team that can use the model 10x deeper.”
So this post, in my view, isn’t really about showing off clients. It’s about filtering for an ecosystem niche. What Anthropic is creating among founder circles isn’t a client list — it’s a sense of scarcity and prestige.
Models are available to everyone. But only truly elite teams can turn Claude into a moat.
After all, in this era where anyone can build, the only real differentiator is the team.
Once upon a time, having a better model meant winning. Now models are like water, electricity, or gas — anyone can buy the best for a few bucks. You can’t lean on the model anymore.
So what matters now? Taste. Prioritization. User insight. Speed of iteration. And trust within the team.
These things — no API can sell them to you. No large language model can generate them for you.
Models are raw materials. Teams are the alchemists who turn raw materials into soulful products. That’s the real game of AI entrepreneurship.
And I think Anthropic’s moat right now isn’t even the model.
