At the All-In Summit, Jensen Huang opposed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s proposal to slow down the development of frontier AI, but he also agreed with one of Dario’s suggestions: allowing independent third parties to enter frontier labs for safety assessments, and ideally involving multiple institutions at the same time to avoid the assessments losing their independence.

Jensen Huang believes that the most dangerous AI safety issues will first emerge in frontier labs, because only these companies have enough computing power to push model capabilities to the limit. He thinks labs should first get sandboxes, monitoring, and evaluations right, while also accepting external inspections similar to financial audits. For these companies that control the strongest AI, higher standards should also be applied.

Halfway through the interview, Trump suddenly called Jensen Huang, and Huang then put it on speakerphone. Trump called the idea of AI taking over the world a “scam,” and Huang immediately chimed in with “You’re right.” Trump also said “robots won’t take over the world.” By the end of the chat, Trump said he hadn’t known Huang’s views before, but guessed the two of them thought alike. Huang replied “Yes, Mr. President.” Trump then added, “Whoever wins AI, wins.”

Like Trump, Jensen Huang opposes slowing down and doesn’t buy into doomsday theories of AI going out of control, but on the matter of introducing external audits to frontier labs, he actually found rare common ground with Dario.
