A discussion questioning whether AI will free humans from labor or create more work, contrasting the promise of post-scarcity with AI CEOs' claims of increased labor needs.

To me the appeal of the singularity is that it would bring an end to scarcity economics with a fully automated work force, freeing humans from a life devoted to labour, and bring on an age where humans can live their lives devoted to living. But now all the AI CEOs are saying AI is going to bring MORE work and labor shortages?! I've heard some people say the CEOs are saying that to prevent stock market collapse, but wouldn't saying instead "my AI is going to eliminate all human jobs" drive their stock price up more than saying the opposite? So what exactly is the truth here, is AI going to free humans from a life of labour or force humans to work even more?
