Hi HN,<p>I&#x27;ve been through many finance tracking apps, starting with Personal Capital, then Monarch, and most recently Copilot. None of them have worked perfectly for my needs.<p>All of these apps tend to model “cash flow” as the net sum of your transactions during a month, yet while credit card charges are reported immediately, they are typically deducted from checking (cash) accounts the following month when the bill is due. As a result, I&#x27;ve always had to maintain a separate spreadsheet to track my actual cash flow.<p>These apps also have a huge focus on managing budgets, which has never been for me. My spending is rarely consistent month-to-month, so every month I&#x27;m comparing my fully justified spending against my budget, and tweaking my budget until I “pass”.<p>So I built yet another finance tracking app. It has the usual components - accounts, transactions, categories - but the core is a cash flow projection engine, and everything else is built around it.<p>Budgets are gone. Instead, each income&#x2F;spending category is projected forward from your historical activity, but not as a flat monthly number. They land in whatever account you historically use (e.g. checking account for paychecks&#x2F;rent&#x2F;bills, credit&#x2F;debit cards for daily spending). Credit card payments are modeled automatically based on your projected credit card balance. You can set up your own recurring transfers between accounts as well, to model savings, for example.<p>The end result is that the app can forecast how your cash moves, and you can see in advance when any account might run low. If all of your accounts look good for the next 12 months, maybe you don&#x27;t have a budgeting problem.<p>What’s made the biggest difference for me has been the MCP integration, which I have connected to Claude (but can be connected to any AI agent of your choice). I have asked it to import historical transactions by uploading PDF account statements, categorize&#x2F;tag all transactions that took place while I was on vacation, and plan transfers across my accounts to cover expected payments.<p>I hope some people that share my frustrations will find this app useful.

# No more budgeting — cash flow forecasting, automated Source: [https://stoke.money/](https://stoke.money/) Spend like you normally do\. Stoke finds the recurring transactions in your history, then projects each account forward, day by day, so you know what you can spend without keeping a budget\. HistoryFrom your historyProjected ## Connect once\. The forecast builds itself\. Three steps from sign\-up to a forecast that updates as you spend\. 01 ### Connect or enter Link a bank in seconds, or hand\-enter accounts and transactions yourself\. Either way, it feeds the same forecast\. 02 ### Recurring activity is detected Paychecks, rent, subscriptions, and bills are picked out of your history and grouped\. Anything we miss, you categorize once with a rule that runs on future transactions too\. 03 ### Balances, projected day by day The forecast shows when bills land, what your buffer looks like, and whether rent will clear Friday\. Adjust any projected item and the line moves\. ## Every transaction, one forecast The ledger and the forecast are the same data, day by day\. Cash leaves when the card is paid, not at each swipe\. 9:41 Transactions Today3transactions−$27\.72 Refund — Patagonia Shopping \+$64\.00 Yesterday3transactions\+$3,143\.01 Mon, Oct 123transactions−$418\.84 See where your money stands today — and where it's headed\. ## Bring your own AI Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP\-capable assistant to your Stoke data\. Ask what you can afford, then have it categorize transactions or draft a plan\. Illustrative\. Requires Pro plan\. ## Pricing Hand\-entry is on the house\. Pay for bank sync, and for AI access if you want it\. Free $0 No credit card required - Daily cash flow forecast - Categories, tags, and rules - Hand\-enter accounts and transactions - Live bank sync Plus billed yearly as $60 , or $7 /month - Everything in Free - Live bank sync - Auto\-categorization on sync - Founding price — locked in billed yearly as $96 , or $12 /month - Everything in Plus - Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP\-capable assistant - Ask about your spending and forecast; let it categorize transactions and draft plans - Founding price — locked in ## Security and privacy Bank credentials are the most sensitive thing you'll hand an app\. Here's how we handle them, and the rest of your data\. ### Bank sync via Plaid The same connection Chime and Robinhood use\. We never see or store your bank login, and access is read\-only — Stoke can't move money\. ### Encrypted, at rest and in transit Bank access tokens and account numbers are encrypted with AES\-256\-GCM before they're stored, and everything travels over TLS\. Sign in with a passkey or a one\-time email link — there's no password to leak\. ### No ads, no data resale We make money from subscriptions, not from your data — it's never sold or used for advertising\. Cancel and your data stays put\. Delete and it's gone for good\. ## Frequently asked What if my bank doesn't connect?Bank sync runs through Plaid, which reaches most US and Canadian banks but not all\. Any account it can't reach, you can hand\-enter, and it sits in the same forecast as your synced accounts\. Does the forecast include credit card bills?Yes\. A card purchase shows up in your spending the day you swipe\. Cash leaves when you pay the card, so the forecast projects each card's payment on its due date, out of the account that pays it\. Do I need my own AI assistant?Yes\. Stoke doesn't include a chatbot\. Pro adds an MCP connection from an AI app you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, or another that supports MCP — to your Stoke data, so it can read your forecast and act on it\. What can the AI do with my data?It answers questions about your spending, recurring bills, and projected balances\. With write access it can also categorize transactions, create rules, and build plans\. You pick read\-only or read and write when you connect, and can revoke access at any time from Settings\. What happens if I cancel? You're moved to the free plan\. Your accounts, transactions, and forecast all stay — only live bank sync stops\. To turn it back on, re\-subscribe and reconnect your bank through Plaid\. What if I delete my account?Everything goes — accounts, transactions, the forecast, and any linked bank connections\. Deletion is final; we don't keep a copy\. ## Try it with your own accounts\.
