Summary

An algorithm engineer shares his growth journey from 0 to 35,000 followers on Twitter, emphasizing the probabilistic nature of content creation and personal business transformation.

0 to 35,000 followers in 13 months Posted over 11,200 tweets. Less than 10 actually drove growth. Hit rate under 0.1% Starting from Dali, I met friends like @lxfater, @xbanboo, @haoshanhong Then, while starting my own growth journey on Twitter, I helped many friends start their growth on Twitter: @bggg_ai, @yang24zhi, @hezhiyan7, @yaohui12138, @AI_Jasonyu, @guishou_56, @ai_muzi, @caiwithai, @servasyy_ai, @nopinduoduo, @yanhua1010, @MindfulReturn, @iamzhihui, @canghe, @cnyzgkc, @song66546656, @zstmfhy, @xiaoerzhan, @xpg0970, @Pluvio9yte ... I met many fellow Twitter users (there are too many- -), and met offline with @Cydiar404, @gefei55, @sitinme, @WaytoAGI, @yanhua1010, @hezhiyan7, @ai_muzi, @iamzhihui, @_HIT_SZ_, @guojifanbill, @Yiwei_growth, @tangjinzhou, @li9292, @GstarWd99611, @CoderJeffLee, @axichuhai, @duange6099, @wWw1152228, @Thons, @WeiYipei, @elliotchen100, @ArtistZhou, @neo_reidlab, @Daguo94, @Soranlan ... But what prompted me to write this isn't to show off follower count; on Twitter, I met many great friends, and also made two comparisons based on my own experience: A recipe website made in one month → 0 users in the first week after launch Tweets written over 13 months → Revenue of 1.05 million in the first half of 2026 Six things an algorithm engineer learned in 13 months: ① The first viral post My friend Hammer @lxfater helped me edit that tweet 'Leaving the big company to road trip to Dali', and that night I gained over 1,000 followers I was so excited that I only slept for an hour That day, I realized: actually, not many people care about you, so you don't need to worry about being embarrassed ② Growth is a numbers game Out of 11,200 tweets, 5-6 had high traffic, and 7-8 clearly gained followers In between, there were months of daily posts with no attention People who give up after posting 50 tweets without going viral don't even have a sample size large enough for statistical significance ③ 1.05 million revenue, 0 marketing costs MCN promotions account for 60% (13-14 brand projects), AI influencer sponsorships 30%, consulting and training 10% One-person company + 3 interns, now hired a full-time assistant Brands need influencers, influencers need sponsorships; what I sell in the middle isn't traffic, but certainty of delivery ④ Freelancing, working 9 hours a day In the morning, AI collects hot topics, during the day I push projects forward, at night I receive and make payments In the past at big companies, I avoided interactions when possible; now with a one-person company, if you don't expand your business, who will come to you? Freedom isn't about having no one to manage you, it's about building a system that runs on its own ⑤ The recipe website died in the second ring Build → Ship → Distribute → Trust → Monetize Technical education only teaches the first two rings, but all the money is in the last three rings ⑥ Starting from July, shifting from self-media IP to building products Influence is leverage, but it shouldn't be the end goal In the second half of the year: build my own products, learn overseas SEO, and do Ship2Market to help technical founders complete the last three rings. Code lets you build things others can't see, content lets you be seen, and business turns being seen into value.

0 → 35,000 followers, 13 months

Posted 11,200+ tweets. Less than 10 truly drove growth. Hit rate below 0.1%

From the start, got to know Chui Ge (@lxfater), Ban Zong (@xbanboo), Haoshan (@haoshanhong)

Then began my own X growth journey while helping many friends start theirs: Biscuit Ge (@bggg_ai), Yang Shangshang (@yang24zhi), Hertz (@hezhiyan7), Shizi (@yaohui12138), Yu Zong (@AI_Jasonyu), Niko (@guishou_56), Muzi Bu Xie Daima (@ai_muzi), Zhang Youcai (@caiwithai), Huang Zong (@servasyy_ai), Pinduoduo Laoge (@nopinduoduo), Yanhua (@yanhua1010), Shenxin Xiufuju (@MindfulReturn), Zhihui (@iamzhihui), Canghe (@canghe), Mumaren (@cnyzgkc), Song Jiang (@song66546656), AI Naiba (@zstmfhy), Xiao Er (@xiaoerzhan), Yiheng (@xpg0970), Wuyun (@Pluvio9yte)…

Connected with many X friends (too many to list-) and met offline: C Da (@Cydiar404), Gefei (@gefei55), Tao Ge (@sitinme), AJ (@WaytoAGI), Yanhua (@yanhua1010), Hertz (@hezhiyan7), Muzi Bu Xie Daima (@ai_muzi), Zhihui (@iamzhihui), Xiaowei (@HIT_SZ), Guojifan Bill (@guojifanbill), Yiwei (@Yiwei_growth), Tang Zong (@tangjinzhou), Jiu Er (@li9292), Andy Wang (@GstarWd99611), Zimu (@CoderJeffLee), Axi Chuhai (@axichuhai), Duan Ge (@duange6099), Shuchong Laoban (@wWw1152228), Chenfeng (@Thons), Shengjiang Iris (@WeiYipei), Elliot (@elliotchen100), Artist Zhou (@ArtistZhou), Neo (@neo_reidlab), Daguo (@Daguo94), Xifan Soran (@Soranlan)…

But writing this isn’t to show off follower counts. On X, I’ve met many great friends. Based on my own experience, here are two comparisons:

Recipe website built in one month → 0 users in first week online
Tweets posted over 13 months → Revenue of 1.05M in H1 2026

Six lessons learned by an algorithm engineer over 13 months:

  1. The first viral post
Friend Tie Chui Ren (@lxfater) helped me rewrite that tweet “Leaving big tech to自驾去大理”
Gained 1000+ followers that night, was so excited I slept only an hour
That day I realized: Actually not many people care about you, so no need to worry about losing face

  2. Growth is a probability game
Out of 11,200 tweets, 5-6 high-engagement posts, 7-8 with noticeable follower growth
In between were months of daily posting with no engagement
Those who give up after 50 tweets without virality don’t even have enough sample for statistical significance

  3. 1.05M revenue, 0 marketing spend
MCN promotions account for 60% (13-14 brand projects), AI blogger commercial partnerships 30%, consulting/training 10%
    One-person company + 3 interns, now hired a full-time assistant
Brands need bloggers, bloggers need commercial partnerships
What I’m selling in between isn’t traffic, but delivery certainty

  4. Freelancing = 9-hour workdays
    Morning: AI collects hot topics
    Daytime: Push projects forward
    Evening: Receive payments, process transfers
Previously at big companies avoided social interaction when possible
Now with one-person company, if you don’t expand business, who’ll find you?
Freedom isn’t about no supervision, but building a self-sustaining system

  5. Recipe website died at the second link
    Build → Ship → Distribute → Trust → Monetize
Technical education only teaches the first two links, but money is in the last three

  6. July onward: shifting from personal IP to building products
Influence is leverage, not the destination
H2: Build own products, learn overseas SEO, start Ship2Market to help tech founders cover the last three links

Code lets you build things unseen, content makes you visible, business turns visibility into value

huangserva (@servasyy_ai): Account finally hit 35k followers

8 months. Looking back to share some real feelings about playing on Twitter.

Let’s start with money—what you love to hear most

These 8 months, earned around 300k from content creation, one peak month with 60k+ just from commercial partnerships. But honestly, without breakthroughs in content creation, earning this kind of money is really a grind. Countless people approached me for projects during this period—if I’d taken them all, earnings would easily exceed a million.
