How far can you prompt Astra? 1 prompt vs 200 prompts with Blender

Reddit r/singularity News

Summary

A user experiments with the AI tool Astra in Blender, showing that while a single prompt yields poor results, 200 guided prompts enable photorealistic modeling, highlighting current AI limitations and potential for future improvements.

The original prompt: "Using Blender, build the Twin Towers/WTC (NYC) at a photoreal level. Look up all references to ensure every part of the building is accurate 1:1; all curves, the roof detail, the shading, the spire, etc. Ensure the final result is one that would pass as photoreal in a movie set in the 90s for example. Use a generic clear sky/partly cloudy HDRI" Astra by itself (1-shot, xhigh) did a fairly poor job of this. But with prompting alone (I didn't touch the `.blend` file whatsoever), it's clearly able to model almost anything with enough time and guidance. The goal here was to push Astra to its limits when paired with a human, because all the demos you see with it are 1-3-shot. The time horizon of this scene is on the order of 10 or so hours, and what you see here is after ~200 prompts of human guidance. I had trouble describing the whole scene because I'm dumb (e.g. building terminology and such I am clueless of) but it was able to infer what I meant pretty much every time. Finding reference images was also a bit tricky. (It also had periods of its own subagents judge what it was doing, but this was nowhere near as effective as myself giving it guidance.) With a more detailed prompt it's able to get something better, but nowhere near enough. I would expect a human to be able to work off the more vague prompt anyway. So, while Astra is clearly capable, it still needs humans to guide it to create something of decent quality. Therefore I don't think it qualifies as AGI yet — I'd consider an AGI to be able to create the right result in 1 prompt after many hours of working. Its own subagent critics seem to lack taste in this regard, or give up too early. Good news is I'm certain upcoming models will just get better and better to the point where they are even better than what I made with it after just 1 prompt.
