I’ve created an AI Short Drama Community (paid) to discuss AI short drama workflows, tools, and hands-on practice. If you’re interested, add me on: WeChat hao_dev, and note github when adding.

shuohao-skills

A collection of skills for AI coding agents. Works with both Claude Code and codex.

SkillWhat it does
novel-charactersBreaks a novel into a character settings pack: character profiles, visual prompts, voice prompts, and character design images. Report language and image style are configurable

Feed it a novel, and you get this:

Character Settings Pack Report

Install

git clone https://github.com/eternityspring/shuohao-skills.git
cd shuohao-skills
./scripts/install.sh

It auto-detects whether Claude Code or codex is installed on your machine and symlinks all skills to them — changes take effect immediately after git pull, no reinstall needed.

./scripts/install.sh novel-characters # install only one skill
./scripts/install.sh --codex # install only to codex
./scripts/install.sh --uninstall # remove symlinks

If you’d rather not use the script, just create the links yourself:

ln -s "$PWD/skills/novel-characters" ~/.claude/skills/novel-characters
ln -s "$PWD/skills/novel-characters" ~/.codex/skills/novel-characters

Prerequisites

Required?Notes
NodeRequired≥ 18. Skill scripts only use the standard library, no npm dependencies, no install needed
Model quotaRequiredUses your current session’s quota, no API key needed
codex CLIOptionalOnly needed for image generation (uses built-in $imagegen). Skip image generation if unavailable; everything else still works

Repository Conventions

Each skill lives in its own directory, self-contained and can be copied out individually:

skills/<skill-name>/
├── SKILL.md # The workflow an agent reads (required)
├── README.md # Documentation for humans
├── scripts/
│ ├── <name>.mjs # Deterministic tools, zero dependencies
│ └── selftest.mjs # Self-test, no model calls (required)
├── references/ # Detailed instructions loaded on demand
├── examples/ # Built-in samples, also used as test fixtures
└── assets/ # Screenshots

Two hard requirements:

  • Every skill must have a SKILL.md
  • Every skill must have a scripts/selftest.mjs that doesn’t call the model, doesn’t cost quota, and covers all deterministic logic

Before adding a new skill, run all the self-tests first:

for f in skills/*/scripts/selftest.mjs; do node "$f"; done

No CI configured — the self-tests are fast enough (1 second) that running locally is more convenient than waiting on CI. Only verified on macOS + Node 24; the code has no platform-specific calls, so Linux and older Node versions should theoretically work, but haven’t been verified.

Shuohao (@eternityspring): After getting MiniMax H3 running locally, everyone thought the barrier to AI short dramas had collapsed.

But when I actually started working on it, I realized that to turn a novel into a script and then storyboard it, you must first lock down the characters.

I open-sourced a skill specifically for this, and it works with both Claude Code and Codex:

  • Drop a novel in, and the AI automatically extracts each character: character profile + cartoon visual prompt + voice prompt
