Good news for anyone trying to prove a model is theirs.
Sentient Foundation released the Fingerprinting Leaderboard, a free, open source benchmark that tests fingerprinting methods, meant to prove an AI model was copied from yours.
Researchers submit a method for hiding an ownership mark inside a model, and Sentient puts that mark into its own test models, tries to strip it out, then ranks the method on a public website.
The code that runs these tests, called mlprints, is released too.
A fingerprint trains a model to return unlikely answers to secret prompts, so an owner can test a suspected copy through its API alone.
But a fingerprint that survives every attack is still useless if the owner can’t read it back reliably.
Sentient Foundation’s Fingerprinting Leaderboard scores that verification step directly, alongside how well the mark resists removal and how much model skill it costs.
Sentient’s Perinucleus method embedded 24,576 fingerprints in Llama-3.1-8B without degrading utility, is also competing on the leaderboard, and the fingerprints survived standard fine-tuning.
Sentient Foundation (@sentient_found): Models cost millions to train and minutes to copy. Fine-tuning and distillation can erase where they came from.
Introducing the Fingerprinting Leaderboard, an open benchmark for model provenance — built so the proof lives in the weights, not the paperwork.

@qqqqqf_: I additionally tested Fable5. I found that it does not achieve very high similarity (>0.9) with most of Anthropic's models. This likely indicates that it could be an unprecedented new base model trained on a mixture of data (just speculation; note that post-training also affects fingerprint results, for reference only). But there is an extra surprise…
User @qqqqqf_ shared fingerprint test results for Fable5 and other models, finding that Fable5 has low similarity with most Anthropic models but very high similarity with kimi k2.7, qwen3-7max, glm5.2, etc., speculating possible data leakage or distillation. At the same time, they released an open source project ai-model-fingerprint for model identification and detection.
AI Fingerprinting Visually
A developer is creating a method to visually fingerprint AI models by analyzing weights and tensors using Random Matrix Theory, with data from QWEN2.5 models, and is interested in open-sourcing the tool.

Overmind launched a platform that turns production agent traces into training data to fine-tune and serve small open-weight specialist models the customer owns, claiming its tuned 9B model beats frontier flags like GPT-5.6 Luna on biomedical, legal, and engineering extraction tasks (e.g. 91.6% vs 82.0% F1 on contract clause extraction), with platform code open-sourced under AGPL-3.0.
