In 20 minutes, it replicated the first 1/3 of Contra’s first level—pure web version that’s playable, with core feel around 80%, and even pulled out the up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right BA from the reverse-engineering notes, the 30-lives Easter egg.

In 3 hours, it fully disassembled the Notion desktop app, upgrading its in-house Mac editor with block models and incremental saving—hardcore parts around 70%. The UI was written by Codex itself, original words: “Aesthetics are a pile of shit.”

So the moat isn’t in writing code anymore; AI can handle 70%–80% of the work, and that last bit of taste and product definition is what’s valuable.
