Summer Game Fest Live, the big live show that will feature a whole bunch of gaming news and announcements, begins at 5PM ET and is set to run for two hours\. The event itself will take place in person at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, but it will also be streaming[live on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdNmVWXuYec)\. Summer Game Fest Live sits squarely in the middle of a big run of video game showcases; PlayStation hosted[a State of Play on Tuesday](https://www.theverge.com/entertainment/940913/playstation-state-of-play-june-2026-news-trailers), and the Xbox Games Showcase takes place on Sunday\. That doesn’t mean there won’t be some big surprises, though\. According to this year’s livestream’s description, expect a “live look at what’s next in video games, with new game announcements, surprise special guests and more,” and while that’s not very specific, Keighley probably has some flashy news in store\. Based on the last few days of Summer Game Fest, just about everyone\.*Grand Theft Auto VI*hasn’t been present at any of the keynote events, but its presence was felt every time a release date was announced\. The month of November, when*GTA VI*launches, is virtually empty\. The rest of the fall, meanwhile, is absolutely packed\. It started at Sony’s State of Play showcase on Tuesday\. It will release on multiple platforms simultaneously — PC, PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and Nintendo Switch 2 — in spring 2027\. In footage shown onstage at Summer Game Fest Live 2026, there was a lot to take in: you’ll get to fly the Highwind airship \(and jump off it to land in the game’s open world\), play as Vincent and Cid in battle \(who weren’t playable in*Rebirth*\), challenge the gigantic Weapons, and visit places from the original game like Wutai\. You’ll also get to dress up your characters with special armors that can change your stats and your look, with what Vincent voice actor Matt Mercer jokingly called the “fit” system\. The four new fighters will be released in stages, with Tifa dropping early next year\. -  The Wolf Among Us 2 isn’t dead yet\. It’s had[a long development](https://www.theverge.com/2019/12/12/21020044/telltale-the-wolf-among-us-season-2-trailer-game-awards-tga), but it’s apparently going to finally come out[in 2027](https://x.com/summergamefest/status/2063028722341396744)\.*The Wolf Among Us Remastered*is also set to launch this holiday season\. -  For those following along at home… By my math, we’re at four \(4\) puppet or puppet\-adjacent appearances so far in the show: Studio MDHR, Billy the Puppet from*Saw*, the*Among Us*mascots, and then Capcom action figures\. We’ve known Geoff likes puppets, but I’m excited at just how much he’s committed to it this year\. -  Palworld 1\.0 launches in July\. It’s set to launch in 2027\. Sorry, I mean*Star Wars: Galactic Racer*\. A[new trailer](https://x.com/summergamefest/status/2063015594241478729)shows off what appears to be the game’s story mode\. The conversations look a little stilted, but who cares — all I care about is the podracing\. It’s coming out on October 6th\. -  Titled Goose Game\. *An Eggstremely Hard Game*casts you as one of two \(or four\) goose parents trying to carry their egg home without breaking it\. Imagine the fights you could get into with your friends or partner\! Just like*Overcooked*, except you really shouldn’t be cooking this egg\. -  ## [Control Resonant is a sequel — and also a starting point](https://www.theverge.com/games/944151/control-resonant-hands-on)   Image: Remedy Entertainment Chronologically,*Control Resonant*is a sequel to 2019’s*Control*\. But in most other ways, the games aren’t*directly*connected\. To developer Remedy, they’re more like two sides of the same coin\. When*Resonant*was first revealed last year, creative director Mikael Kasurinen said[you can play the games in any order](https://www.polygon.com/control-2-resonant-announcement-remedy-the-game-awards-trailer-release-date/)\. The world of*Control*is reality\-bending in lots of ways, but the general linear progression of time isn’t really one of them — how would someone start with the sequel? I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in this co\-op survival game, which is called*Haex*, but I’m down for the vibes — and the cubes\. It launches in 2027\. -  PlatinumGames is making another TMNT game\. -  Stranger Than Heaven is coming out in January — and features Tupac? The next game from RGG Studio will be released[on January 15th, 2027](https://x.com/summergamefest/status/2063009628133196088), and Tupac is in the game\. Didn’t expect that casting\. -  Fumito Ueda’s next game is Gen Atlas\. Ueda, behind games like*Ico*,*Shadow of the Colossus*, and*The Last Guardian*, showed off his new title, a sci\-fi shooter\. There’s no details on when it will come out, but it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and the Epic Games Store \(Epic is publishing it\)\. -  Uh oh, the xenomorph is back\. The sequel to[one of the scariest games I’ve ever played](https://www.theverge.com/2014/10/3/6897307/alien-isolation-review)has been officially unveiled with a brief teaser for*Alien Isolation 2*\. It’s coming to the PS5, Xbox, PC, and even the Switch 2, though there’s no release date yet\. -  Cuphead returns\. Studio MDHR confirmed that it’s working on a follow\-up to*Cuphead*, though it’s still early in development\.
