Summary

Pero is an open-source Agentic Workspace for AI for Science (AI4S), aiming to transform research workflows (such as scripts, notebooks, and model demos) into self-running apps, and to explore a new model of open-source collaboration: contributing agents, tokens, and compute power, enabling agents to automatically claim GitHub Issues, execute tasks locally, and contribute the results back. The project is currently in developer preview, with Virtual Cell as its first application.

As I mentioned yesterday, I want to work on some more interesting things going forward. Today, I'd like to introduce a new project: Pero 🚀 An open-source Agentic Workspace for AI for Science (AI4S). Starting with a simple scenario to learn and explore how AI agents can participate in scientific research workflows. On top of that, I also want to try a new model of open-source collaboration: contributing not just code, but also agents, tokens, and compute power. For example, letting your agent automatically claim a GitHub Issue, execute the task on your own machine, and contribute the results back. It's also a way to give everyone a new way to burn through those endless tokens. 😂 Just getting started — come build with me! Shared an open collaborative repository Awesome Vibe Research maintained by ModelScope. This repository collects and curates reusable, verifiable, and evolvable AI-assisted components across the full research workflow, including agents, skills, workflows, tools, and best practices. It aims to help researchers and developers leverage AI to improve research efficiency.

@vintcessun: Tonight I came across a learning roadmap project that redefined where to start learning Agent. I used to think Agent was just a pile of tools and frameworks, but its core is the "observe-think-execute" loop and the harness engineering's organization of permissions, state, and backtracking. It breaks down learning into building a minimal Agent loop from scratch all the way to deploying a real Agent, with 8 stages, each with clear deliverables and recommended resources — not just links but an actionable todo list. This systematic approach made me realize my previous learning was too fragmented.
